The Ministry of Education today held a media engagement to officially brief the press on Liberia’s hosting of the 2027 Conference and Roundtable of the Africa Federation of Teaching Regulatory Authorities (AFTRA), scheduled for May 2027 in Monrovia.
The engagement also highlighted the recent AFTRA Fellowship awarded to Minister of Education Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah in recognition of contributions to strengthening teacher professionalism, licensing, and education quality standards across the sector.
Responding to questions from journalists on what distinguished Liberia, the Minister pointed to the country’s active participation and contributions since becoming a full AFTRA member in 2024, including ongoing reforms around teacher licensing, school accreditation, and professional standards.
She further noted that hosting AFTRA 2027 presents an opportunity to strengthen partnerships, deepen regional collaboration, showcase Liberia’s education reforms, and position the country more prominently within continental education policy discussions.
The conference is expected to bring together education leaders, policymakers, regulatory authorities, researchers, and development partners from across Africa.
