The Ministry of Education, through its Bureau of Early Childhood Education, has concluded Liberia’s Week of the Young Child in Gbarnga, bringing together children, educators, and community leaders for a vibrant close to the nationwide celebration.

Hundreds of children from 20 early childhood institutions took part in the closing activities, highlighting the importance of early learning and the role of families, schools, and communities in shaping a child’s development.

Assistant Minister Fasam Howard Nyensuah described the week as both a celebration and a moment to reflect on what it takes to sustain progress, strong collaboration and consistent engagement across all levels.

In her keynote address, Minister of Education Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah reaffirmed the government’s focus on foundational learning, pointing to ongoing efforts including the EXCEL Project, early-grade digital learning, and school feeding.

The week closes with a clear priority to strengthen early learning as the foundation for long-term education outcomes in Liberia.
