Today, the Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Education, broke ground for the Robertsport Hospitality and Tourism Training Center; an effort to ensure that the town’s growing tourism sector translates into real income for local people.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Education Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah noted that while visitors continue to come to Robertsport, the benefits are not always fully captured within the community. This initiative is designed to change that by linking skills directly to existing economic activity.
The Center will train young people in hospitality, eco-tourism, and small business development, preparing them to work and build within the local economy.
The project is being delivered under the EU-funded Youth Rising Project Phase II, implemented by UNIDO, with a contract value of US$806,721.67 and a construction timeline of nine months.
The focus now is ensuring that opportunity in Robertsport leads to livelihoods for the people who live there.
