Ministry Moves to Standardize School Records Nationwide
The Ministry of Education is strengthening how schools across Liberia record, manage, and use information to support better planning and education delivery.
Speaking on Day One of a five-day technical work session in Kakata, Margibi County, Minister of Education Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah challenged school principals and county education administrators to make accurate and up-to-date records a core part of effective school management.
She emphasized that every principal should be able to clearly understand the reality of their school through reliable information on students, teachers, attendance, infrastructure, and other essential areas. These records, she noted, should help school leaders identify needs, strengthen accountability, guide decisions, and improve the learning environment.
The first three days of the technical session are focused on developing and validating a Statutory School Record-Keeping Booklet, which will establish a common system for maintaining key school-level records nationwide.
The work will then move from school-level record-keeping to county planning. County education teams will use data from the 2024/25 Annual School Census Fact Sheets to finalize County Education Operational Plans that reflect the actual needs and priorities of their counties.
Through this process, the Ministry is connecting the information generated in schools to the decisions made at county and national levels, ensuring that education planning, resource allocation, monitoring, and accountability are increasingly grounded in credible evidence.
