Today, the Ministry of Education in collaboration with Mission Alliance Liberia, convened partners, literacy providers, and stakeholders for the Adult Literacy Curriculum Review and Alignment Session aimed at strengthening adult education across Liberia.
Opening the session, Minister of Education Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah acknowledged the organizations, communities, and facilitators that have sustained adult literacy programs over the years, particularly during periods when government-operated centers declined.
The Minister emphasized the need for a more coordinated national approach that ensures adult learners across the country have access to a common curriculum and consistent learning standards.
Discussions focused on updating adult literacy programs to include not only reading, writing, and numeracy, but also practical skills such as digital literacy, financial literacy, health education, entrepreneurship, and civic education.
The review process is expected to support stronger pathways for adult learners to transition into vocational training, further education, and employment opportunities.
