Mambahn Central Academy Officially Handed Over to the Government of Liberia
What began in 2004 as a mud-brick structure is now a modern public primary school serving 178 children in Zeewhorr Community, Lower Margibi County.
The construction of the upgraded facility was funded by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as part of its commitment to expanding access to quality education in underserved communities.
On February 27, 2026, the upgraded facility was formally handed over to the Government of Liberia following three months of construction. Completed at a cost of US$98,000 by Liberian-owned Hydro Tech Incorporated, the project includes a reliable water system, a structured kitchen to support school feeding, and a solar power system; practical investments that strengthen daily learning conditions.
At the turnover ceremony, Deputy Minister for Planning, Research and Development, Hon. Thomas Momo Parker, emphasized that infrastructure is foundational to education reform. Classrooms, water, power, trained teachers, and community ownership must work together to deliver results.
Mambahn Central Academy now begins its next chapter as a public school, expanding access and strengthening learning conditions in the community.
