GPE Secretariat and UNESCO-IIEP Mission Advances Education Planning and Investment Discussions in Liberia
Monrovia, Liberia July 1, 2026
The joint mission of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Secretariat and the UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) to Liberia continues this week, bringing together the Ministries of Education and Finance and Development Planning, development partners, and technical institutions to strengthen education planning and investment.
Since the start of the mission on June 29, the team has engaged government officials and technical experts in a series of consultations focused on reviewing education and public finance data, updating Liberia’s Education Sector Simulation Model, and advancing the development of the Education Sector Investment Strategy (ESIS).
The mission is also supporting the Mid-Term Review of Liberia’s Education Sector Plan and Partnership Compact through technical discussions, data validation, capacity-building sessions, and policy consultations designed to strengthen evidence-based planning and investment across the education sector.
The mission continues through July 3, with additional technical engagements and partner consultations expected to support Liberia’s long-term education priorities.
