The Ministry of Education has officially launched the 2025/2026 Annual School Census.

To plan effectively, we must first see clearly. That is why the census will run from March 27 to April 27 across all 15 counties.

Speaking at the press engagement, Deputy Minister for Planning, Research, and Development, Hon. Thomas M. Parker, described the census as the backbone of the education system, providing the clarity needed to strengthen supervision, monitoring, and decision-making across the country.

This year’s approach strengthens accuracy, accountability, and real-time supervision. Data will be collected directly in schools by trained principals and registrars, then verified and processed through county data hubs for analysis.

The census will capture critical information on enrollment, teachers, infrastructure, learning materials, TVET, and overall school conditions, including issues such as over-age enrollment and inclusion of learners with disabilities.

The results will guide teacher deployment, resource allocation, and learning reforms, ensuring support reaches the schools and communities that need it most.

We call on school leaders, teachers, parents, and communities to fully support this national exercise. Accurate data today strengthens the system for tomorrow.
