38 Rural Teachers Selected for China Exchange Under Teacher and Administrator Holistic Upgrading Priority
The Ministry of Education has selected and vetted 38 teachers serving in rural communities across Liberia’s 16 Education Counties to participate in a three-week Cultural Exchange Program in the People’s Republic of China.
The initiative supports the Ministry’s Teacher and Administrator Holistic Upgrading priority, which focuses on strengthening the knowledge, professional capacity, motivation, and development of the educators who are central to improving learning across Liberia.
Through the exchange, participating teachers will gain exposure to China’s education system, teaching and learning approaches, mentorship practices, and culture. The program also provides an opportunity for teachers serving outside Monrovia to participate in international professional development and bring relevant experiences back to their schools and communities.
During a pre-departure engagement, Minister of Education Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah encouraged the teachers to approach the experience with purpose, remain focused throughout the program, and return prepared to share what they have learned with their colleagues.
Representing the delegation, Madam Christina H. Nyanfore thanked the Ministry for the opportunity and pledged that participants would use the knowledge and experiences gained to support teaching and learning in their respective communities.
The Ministry continues to expand professional development opportunities for teachers across the country, with particular attention to educators serving in rural and underserved communities.
