Ministry Advances FY2027 Education Sector Budget Planning

Last week, the Ministry of Education convened a four-day Technical Working Session to advance the development of Liberia’s FY2027 Education Sector Budget, bringing together the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, education-sector institutions, universities and community colleges, TVET institutions, development partners, and senior technical officials.

The session focused on translating Liberia’s education priorities into realistic, properly costed investments that can deliver measurable results for learners.

Discussions were anchored in key reforms and priorities, including the Back to My Classroom Campaign, equitable education financing, teacher development, digital learning, school feeding, adult literacy, and expanded access to quality education.

The Ministry emphasized the need for evidence-based planning, fiscal discipline, accountability, and clear prioritization, particularly within the realities of available public resources.

The FY2027 budget process is expected to strengthen alignment between education investments and the Government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, with a continued focus on learning, equity, and human capital development.
