Ministry of Education Prepares 11 Liberian Scholars for Studies in China
MONROVIA, LIBERIA | August 10, 2026
The Ministry of Education has conducted a pre-departure orientation for 11 Liberian scholars, nine males and two females, selected for the 2026/2027 Government of Liberia-China Bilateral Scholarship Program.
The orientation prepared the scholars for their academic journey and addressed academic expectations, discipline, integrity, cultural adaptation, personal responsibility, and their role as representatives of Liberia while studying abroad.
Minister of Education Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah reminded the scholars that the scholarship carries responsibilities beyond earning an academic qualification. She encouraged them to acquire knowledge and specialized skills that can contribute to solving national development challenges upon their return.
The scholars will pursue advanced studies in priority fields including Finance, Public Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Information and Communication Engineering, Infectious Disease Prevention and Control, Comparative Education, and Curriculum and Methodology.
Dr. Jallah also urged the recipients to conduct themselves with integrity and represent Liberia positively throughout their studies in China.
Speaking on behalf of the scholars, Mr. Jimmy George, who will pursue a PhD in Comparative Education, thanked the Government of Liberia for the opportunity and expressed the group’s commitment to academic excellence and contributing their knowledge and expertise to Liberia’s development.
The Liberia-China Bilateral Scholarship Program contributes to the Government’s broader investment in human capital development by expanding opportunities for Liberians to acquire advanced expertise in fields relevant to the country’s development priorities.
The Ministry of Education congratulates the 11 scholars and wishes them success as they begin their studies in China.
