156 public schools. One step closer to a digitally connected Liberia.

The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), has officially launched the School Connect Initiative, a major step in expanding digital learning across Liberia.
Unveiled at Booker Washington Institute in Kakata, the initiative will connect 156 public schools across all 15 counties, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
Through the IRISE project, these schools already have digital labs powered by solar energy and supported by C3 Micro Cloud systems. This new phase connects those schools to high-speed internet, creating a more connected and functional learning environment.
LTA will provide a five-year subscription and ongoing technical support, while the Ministry of Education will continue training teachers and lab managers to ensure effective use of these systems in classrooms and school management.
Speaking at the launch, Minister of Education Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah emphasized that this initiative is not just about connectivity, but about expanding opportunity; enabling better teaching, stronger learning, and more engaged students.
LTA Chairman Clarence Massaquoi described the initiative as a key milestone in advancing nationwide digital connectivity.
The launch brought together partners including the United States Embassy, UNDP, and Starlink, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening access, equity, and innovation in education.
